Hello Wanderers!
I love destination weddings. I love destination weddings. I love desitination weddings. ha ha.
One of Mike’s great friends and groomsmen in our wedding AJ -who is the most genuine fun guy ever married the lovely Katie. Katie loves New Orleans and has spent a lot of time there with her family and she also loves Christmas. I had no idea that New Orleans was such a Christmas city. So all of us flew across the country to New Orleans to celebrate AJ and Katie in December.
New Orleans is always a good idea. A wedding in New Orleans is even better. Have you ever heard of a 2nd line? Well welcome to pure joy and a super long blog post ha ha. Here’s a little bit of an explanation from neworleans.com
“One of the most popular traditions during New Orleans weddings is the famous second line parade. At a wedding if signifies the start of a new beginning of life for the bride and groom. A Brass band leads the bridal party and the guests from the ceremony to the reception venue or it may take place at the reception itself. A second line parade has two parts. The first line is usually a brass band and the ones being honored, the newlyweds. The newly married couple leads the second line holding uniquely decorated umbrellas or parasols. Many couples opt to add a grand marshal, an energetic local who heads the parade. All of the guests who want to join in the celebration make up the second line. The guests form a line behind the band and the newly married couple dance to lively music with handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins in hand!”
Katie was everything we imagined she’s be. As a couple they are a great match - kind, caring and such a good time. What a dream wedding and Mike and I got to shoot it together =). It’s no secret we love our clients. We love meeting their friends and family and making sure every one feels good and included. We love giving tips on how to look good and feel good in photographs. We love seeing couples faces soften when they say I do. We love AJ and Katie even more than usual though. These images are our love letter to them. We are so grateful and honored to have been able to tell their story. It’s a good one.
It was our first trip to New Orleans and I loved every minute. If you are getting married in NOLA hit us up or take us somewhere new that you love. Or come to our city San Diego and let us show you what we love about our beautiful city.
