Photoshoot day is always so fun. Outfitting is one of my favorite parts. Sure sometimes you just can’t find the right idea to help pull it all together, but that’s where I come in today. Do you want something hyper maximalist? Do you want something soft and romantic. Let’s have a look at some environments with a lot of options from my stylish clients. Families come in all sizes and shapes and I hope you see youself in these images.
I recommend starting with one outfit and building around it. I usually start our photoshoot outfits with my dress since I love dresses ha ha. And sometimes I’ll pick a patterned shirt for my nephew and then help everyone else be a part of his world. But most of all I make sure where we are makes sense for our outfit choices.
Let me know what I should add to this post. I want to be there for you. I start with a mix of images just to get your mind brainstorming and then I’ll switch to some visual categories. There are tons of families in these images but I think this could help a ton with branding ideas too.
Let’s look at some some from the San Diego Desert Garden in Balboa Park. I think it’s such a pretty location and the neutral ground allows for a lot of outfit options. Also winter or summer and morning or evening work really well which is impressive.
Ok, let’s check out a few more spaces a bit more green.
The mission in San Juan Capistrano has some beige on beige options that is really beautiful.
The Mission also has some green. Rancho Penasquitos Ranch has a surprisingly yellow vibe I love. Balboa has some kind of sweet Pines.
Some architecture and nature following. Are you getting some ideas yet? Often we combine architecture and nature in the same shoot and I think it’s helpful to see some next to each other. I also love that couples often bring multiple outfits. Oh and look my nephew and I in a spring field.
Let’s look at some interiors, some gardens, some parties. It’s kind of fun to photograph at home since you choose all the pieces and your palette in your home and closet often have a lot of commonality.
The easiest inspo for me is a fabulous party.
From Cal-a-vie to Santa Monica to Detroit. Some creative city vibes. Some color options here.
Jackie’s 50’s family vibe is so the cutest. And then we go on a tropical journey. Aloha.
Creative color explosion. North Park Murals. Spanish Village Balboa Park. The New Childrens Museum. The Dani Dazi Airbnb in Palm Springs. Let’s all live in a splash of color friends.
Did you catch baby Bowie up there? Or me and Jenna for our editorial images for Wanderlings.
Or maybe you’d like to go to the beach? Here are some outfit ideas in Coronado and La Jolla.
I’m always ready to head to the desert. Take me with you.
Some sweet studio looks.
The impetus for this blog post is that I once wore one of my favorite dresses to the superbloom and completely miscalcuated. It’s such a great color on me but not for me in the location. So I just wanted to share. Also one time in Vallodolid I had the most perfect dress in my suitcase for this charming church. Big hugs, Suzanne
